Law enforcement is provided by the Pierce County Sheriff Department.
Anderson Island Fire and Rescue (Pierce County Fire District 27) protects homes and residents through a paid staff of three and 28 highly-trained volunteers, including approximately 9 EMT’s. The district is equipped with two fire engines, two tankers, two ambulances and two fire and rescue boats. In the event of a medical emergency, the department can rapidly transport individuals to the mainland by fire boat or via Airlift Northwest (helicopter). CHI Franciscan Health’s St. Claire Hospital is a mere 5.9 miles from the Steilacoom ferry landing.
